Moist-Map: Measurement System for Spatially Resolved Moisture Determination

Development of a non-destructive measurement system for quantitative and spatially resolved moisture determination
The goal of the project is to develop radar measurement technology for the non-destructive, quantitative, and spatially resolved determination of moisture or water content in walls and human tissue. This addresses two important needs for which no solutions currently exist on the market: reliable, quantitative, and depth-resolved moisture determination in walls, and mobile, reliable measurement of the degree of dehydration, particularly in older adults. A suitable measurement concept, along with the hardware and algorithms, will be developed for this purpose. Using an initial prototype, the simulation-based measurement concept will be evaluated and iteratively optimized for application in the construction industry. In a second step, incorporating the insights gained, a further prototype will be developed for the more complex case of dehydration measurement, along with suitable evaluation algorithms, and tested on tissue models. Biological compatibility will also be investigated in this process. ISAT’s role in the project is to develop a depth-resolved measurement strategy, evaluation algorithms, and validation of the measurement system for application in the construction industry.
