As part of the “JungIngenieurPass” project, two pupils had the opportunity on 23 January to immerse themselves in the everyday work of an engineer. Among other things, they looked into the question of how ultrasound is generated and used specifically in experiments. Using an experimental set-up, the students were able to observe the influence of ultrasound on a ferrofluid in a salt solution. The high-speed camera was used to record the different reactions of the ferrofluid. In the biology laboratory you gained insight into the measuring methods of our acoustic clamp-on sensor for biofilm monitoring with subsequent data evaluation and parameter optimization in our electronics development. Finally, after a short introduction to Labview programming, the students programmed a small game themselves.
